How the MinePrint Process Works and Application

Mineprint For Camps and Programs

We offer our Minecraft 3D printing service to summer camps and school programs, so that kids attending these programs can take home their creation at the end of the camp week or during the school program. We 3D print every kid’s creation with amazing detail and ship the creations to the location you are hosting your program before your program is finished so you can give your students a physical copy of their Minecraft creation. This is great for Minecraft and STEM based programs as it allows kids physically interact with their creation while learning about 3D printing technology and leave a cool impression on parents

Details on the 3D printed creations

Every MinePrint is a unique physical copy of the students Minecraft creation. For 1-week camps, we are able create and deliver the students creations before Friday that week. MinePrint will charges $25 per print and the program operator will be responsible for shipping costs (if the program is non-local to the Memphis Area). If you want MinePrint in your program please fill out MinePrint Program form . We do encourage further reading of this page, so you can understand the process.

Details on the 3D printed creations

In Minecraft, all creations must less than or equal to a 16 blocks by 16 blocks by 16 blocks for best results. Each Minecraft block will be printed to approximately 3mm per block. With this scale, a 16*16*16 block creation at 3mm per block would be approximately 1.85*1.85*1.85 inches. Every print is a extremely accurate physical copy of the students unique creation, but due to file converting techniques and printer limitations it is not yet 100% accurate. To help students have more accurate prints we have the Best Building Practices Guide which we highly recommend you use in your lesson and this helps inform students on some of the basics of 3D design.

Details on Exporting Creations

Currently MinePrint is only compatible with Windows 10 and Minecraft Bedrock edition. When exporting creations please put the students first name (and/or intials) in the file name, and we will label each creation to prevent confusion

Details for Windows 10 Minecraft

For Windows 10 Minecraft, we will give you a Google Drive link to put all the creation files in. To export the creation, each student will need to use a simple command block and navigate to a file explorer path to save their creation as an export. ( How to export creations is on the Best Building Practices Guide.) We highly recommended using a Google Drive desktop shortcut so the students can put their creations directly in the drive and we will help you set up a Google Drive shortcut if needed.

Details for Minecraft Bedrock Edtion on non Windows 10 devices

To export creations from Minecraft Bedrock running on non-Windows 10 systems (such as iPad, Android, console, etc.), requires an instructor or MinePrint employee to join into the student’s world on a Windows 10 PC with world operator privileges and to export the creations to the Google Drive. This does however require for all the student’s devices to be signed into a Microsoft account as Minecraft Bedrock now requires a Microsoft account for non-local multiplayer. We can help you set up all the devices with Microsoft accounts before the program begins.

MinePrint does offer support in exporting the creations

If you need help exporting your students’ creations on Windows 10 or Bedrock, a MinePrint employee can assist you in exporting the creations. We do however require all your devices to be signed into a Microsoft account (so we can access the world) and that all your creations are done by 2:00PM CST Monday (This deadline only applies for 1-week camps that need help exporting). If needed We will assist in setting up the Microsoft accounts on all devices (only required for non Windows or if you need help) and setting up a shortcut on to the Google Drive before your program begins.

How Students Creations are Delivered

For 1 week Monday-Friday Nonlocal Camps we require all creations files by 6:00 PM CST. if you need help exporting the creations, we require all creations to be finished by 2:00 PM CST. Your creations will be shipped through FedEx before 5:00 PM CST Wednesday and should arrive to your location Thursday evening with End of Day FedEx Ground. You are responsible for shipping costs and we recommend End of Day FedEx Ground to get you package before the camp’s final Friday. Since it is an end of day shipping, we can ship it to your personal residence if needed and you are allowed to buy any FedEx shipping service that will come before the Thursday evening. Go to the FedEx shipping rate calculator to calculate rates (the box size for 20 prints will be 7*7*5 inches and weigh about 2 pounds). For camps local to the Memphis area, we will deliver the creations to your camp location on Friday. For multiweek camps, we can discuss shipping further.
